I, Too, Am MIT (2014)

In the wake of police violence captured by the media, students on campuses nationwide spoke out against injustice. At Harvard, Black students raised their voices through the I, Too, Am Harvard video campaign. It was inspired by a play of the same name based on interviews that explored and affirmed black students' diverse experiences at Harvard College.

Our voices often go unheard on this campus, our experiences are devalued, our presence is questioned-- this project is our way of speaking back, of claiming this campus, of standing up to say: We are here.

--Ahsante Bean, "I, Too, Am Harvard" videographer, editor, and interviewer

Black students at the Institute responded with "I, Too, Am MIT" to express the challenges and microaggressions they also face.
